I just realized I never shared this Ikea hack on the blog.
I was looking to do a Rast hack back when doing a Rast hack was cool.
Now its all about the Tarva.
I got one of those in my back pocket, too but today is all about the Rast.
You've probably seen them floating around on the blogs. Here are a few...
All fab in their own way.
I bought two for Peanut's room and wanted to put my own little spin on the campaign hack.
Here's what I came up with.
I started out painting them the traditional union jack colors but reversed the blue and red...
If any one tries to tell you that adding campaign hardware is easy, they are LYING!! Such a weird shape, as you can see below. But I am the self proclaimed McGeyvor of DIY, I make that ish WORK!! I may or may not have used paint stirrers.
So I was done, or so I thought. But I ran across this image and the gray just spoke to me.
And off I went to paint the blue, gray.
Love the antiqued brass against the gray.
Added the corner hardware...
And finally in Peanut's room.
I kinda wish I'd painted the flag across both of them instead of on them individually but I wanted to be able to separate them. Use them as nightstands or put them together.
But I dig how they came out.
